A funny thing happened on the way to the cemetery of musical collaborations. A flooded recording studio, demands of pursuing college degrees, and of course the proverbial "outside interests". Thus the anxiously awaited follow-up to Spoke's Sw'elegant compilation book and CD hung on life support for about a year before the machines were turned off.

2Loft is proud to take the seven completed tracks and offer them as a packaged CD or as MP3 downloads.

With Posthumous, Spoke, fronted by poets Kim Webb and Renee Tambeau, leave the consummate Sw'elegant behind and write anew their influences and meditations with brush strokes that abstract and define.

Posthumous was recorded as the band gelled in their live performances. The music is extremely courageous but never gets in the way of the lyric; nor is it subservient. It's highly accomplished musicians doing poetry. Okay, I'll say it, it's very satisfying on a cerebral level.

Webb describes the process of orchestrating the tracks as "planting a seed as a pattern with each musician then creating their domain within the piece." Posthumous benefits from this process as the band synergized at a place that is as much avant-garde jazz as rock & roll.
